Bernard Baudry: five cuvées to explore the terroirs of Chinon
Discover five cuvées from Domaine Bernard Baudry, a benchmark of the Chinon appellation. This selection combines the freshness of Chenin Blanc, the originality of a rare ungrafted Grolleau, and various parcel-specific expressions of Cabernet Franc.
The Domaine Blanc 2025 is crafted exclusively from Chenin Blanc grown on clay-limestone slopes and flint-clay plateaus. Dry yet generous, it reveals notes of white fruit and citrus, accompanied by a pleasant roundness.
Franc de Pied 2023 showcases Grolleau, a historic Loire grape variety grown here on its own roots. Vinified as whole clusters and aged in tanks, this light, low-alcohol red entices with its wild berries, floral notes, and a delicate spicy touch. Serve slightly chilled.
Les Grézeaux 2023 comes from the estate's oldest Cabernet Franc vines, planted on stony gravel. Concentrated yet silky, it combines blackberry, raspberry, violet, graphite, and licorice in a fresh and energetic palate.
Le Clos Guillot 2024 expresses a limestone slope rich in clay and yellow tuffeau. Its aromas of Morello cherry and black fruit accompany an elegant, silky, and persistent texture. Accessible after a few years in the bottle, it will continue to evolve for ten to fifteen years.
La Croix Boissée 2021 represents one of the estate's most ambitious cuvées. Sourced from a south-facing white tuffeau slope, this deep and structured Cabernet Franc reveals notes of plum, blackberry, spices, and smoke, extended by a chalky finish. A great Chinon crafted for aging.
